If I am being totally honest I never really understood the whole audible book/podcast thing, it just never really appealed to me, which is silly because I didn’t even give it a chance. However I have finally joined the hype and now I cannot stop listening to them, better late than never aye!
Why do I now suddenly love them I hear you ask?
I am one of those annoying people who can’t do anything without some music on in the background, whether I am cooking, cleaning or simply putting my make up on I just like some noise to keep me entertained. Annoying I know, thankfully since living together Adrian has grown to block this out or just close the door on me and let me get on with it. However listening to the same music on repeat for hours on end can get a bit repetitive so I thought I’ll download a few episodes from different series on my phone to see what they are like and what the hype is about… major bonus as I had no idea that they were free!
After listening to a few of the below I was hooked! My brain didn’t just switch itself off and stop listening and start getting lost in my own thoughts like I assumed it would, I even caught myself laughing out loud to some bits. Another bonus, when out running it takes my mind of the dreaded task at hand and takes me to an interview somewhere much more fun and interesting.
Who am I listening too? (My top five Series right now)
1.Table Manners with Jesse Ware
This is definitely my favourite at the moment, Jesse Ware and her mum invite celebrities into her home for a home cooked meal and questions them about their eating habits and how food was in their families growing up and basically chats all things food & how it has influenced their lives. Jesse relationship with her mum is so funny and loving its great fun to listen too. Some of their guests include Sam Smith, Alan Carr & Dermot O’Leary! They tend to be about 40min long so are perfect for me when I drive home to see my parents.
2. At Home with…
Two of my favourite bloggers, Lilly Pebbles & Anna Newton have created a great series to listen to. They interview influencers/business owners from the comfort of the interviewee’s home where they talk about a wide range of things from their interiors, business tips & general life! It is great for a bit of business motivation or just a girlie chat. They all seem so friendly it’s lovely to listen too. Some of their guests include Thea Green (Nails inc founder), Tanya Burr & Zoella
3. Couples Therapy with Candice & Casey
As one of Youtube’s biggest creators I watch a video here and there from Casey, and through some of his old Vlogs you get a small insight of his marriage with Candice. As certain debates pop up between them, parenting/work issues they discus them over a weekly podcast as they would in real therapy. When I first heard the idea of it I was a bit like is it not just digging your partner out online but it’s not nasty at all…. It somehow just works!
4.The Food Medic
This is hosted by Dr Hazel Wallace who is a medical doctor, personal trainer, blogger & author. She chats with experts from different parts of the health/fitness world giving the best advice out there. I am only one episode in on this but so far I have found it really educational and interesting so I can’t wait to listen to more!
I absolutely love this series by Fern Cotton, she discusses what happiness means to the celebrities she talks to and it’s such a lovely idea! You get a real insight to their lives which you might not have heard about before. I recently finished her episode with Alexandra Shulman shortly after I read her 100th Year of Vogue book. It was so interesting hearing her speak after reading her words on paper.
I hope you enjoy my recommendations! If you have any you love please let me know below..
