I recently gave the bathroom a little make over as it needed a bit of TLC! Luckily we didn’t need a whole new bathroom suite, just a few new accessories and a lick of paint. The only big thing we did buy was a new sink as we wanted one with more storage to make the room tidier. So in total the make over cost under £500!
This is how the room looked before, it was all white with a few marks on the walls, it just felt a bit boring…
The biggest job was sanding down the floors as the varnish had started to flake; I used a special gadget from my dad to do this and it took about 2 hours. Our original plan was to varnish it again but we preferred how it looked plain, so we sealed it was a clear wooden varnish instead.
The next big job was to fit the new sink; lucky for us my dad is a plumber so he kindly did this for us! I am literally obsessed with this sink! The storage has draws instead of cupboards you get so much extra space and can actually see everything in there at once. Our old sink had 2 separate taps so I chose to get this dual tap as it’s so much easier to wash your face etc. And I now actually enjoy having a night time skincare routine as I have space to do it in and a place to store all my stuff in here.
Once all that was done all we needed to do is decorate, the fun part! I chose the paint ‘Timeless’ by Dulux as I wanted a white/cream colour and I love how it turned out!
Accessories… I replaced the previous shower storage that hung over the door with suction shelves and door hooks from Ikea. Such a little thing but made a huge difference! The small mirror above the sink is from Wickes, it’s just a standard bathroom mirror, but you can tilt it up and down which is handy as Adrian is taller than me so it’s easier to adjust to suit everyone!
For the fireplace I wanted another big mirror to fill the space and found this beauty from Ikea, I love it so much. I brought a wicker basket from Ikea to store the spare towels and flannels in as we don’t have any where else to store them.
I also added a simple blind from Homebase to the window as it was just bare before, the bottom half is frosty so we have privacy but I still wanted something for the top!
