New Years Eve Ski Holiday

So back in June Adrian and I decided we wanted to go skiing for New Year Eve as we had so much fun went we went in Feb. After doing a ton of research we decided to stay at La Bouitte in St Martin De Belleville, France which is in the 3 Valleys. If you stay in the 3 Valleys region you can get a ski pass that allows you to ski all over the 320 slopes so you have plenty of resorts to explore! This was the main selling point for us as we just wanted to ski all day everyday but also wanted to try different routes each day. St Martin De Belleville is a small town with not much night life compared to the big ski resorts, but that didn’t bother us as long as there was a nice bar we could have a few drinks in of a night time we would be happy! Our hotel was a 5 minute drive from the main square but they drop you off and pick you up when you call them, so we didn’t have to worry about our transport which was such a bonus!

We decided to drive down and make a road trip of it, so on Friday 29th December we left home early and got the Eurotunnel to Calais then drove to Beaune which is a small pretty town about a three hours drive from Paris. We got there about 6PM and after checking in to our hotel we freshened up then walked into the main square for dinner and a few drinks which was lovely and helped break up the long journey!

The following day we set off to our ski hotel about 9AM but got caught in crazy non moving traffic, so the final drive on Saturday which should have only taken us 3 hours actually took us 11! This meant we didn’t get to the hotel until 9PM. We checked in and ordered room service, unpacked and chilled ready to get up early and start skiing on New Year Eve! We were so pleased with the hotel we picked, it was so cosy and well presented! After tasting their yummy room service food we decided to book in for dinner there on our last night. The Restaurant in the hotel has been awarded three stars by the Michelin Guide and we chose the 4 course tasting menu for the Wednesday night and it was by far the best meal I have ever eaten! I would definitely recommend checking it out of you ever stay near by!

So we got up early on Sunday, took the hotel shuttle service to the centre of town to pick my skis and our ski passes up and set off skiing. We had a lovely meal in the main square New Years Eve night then spent the rest of our time whilst there just skiing all day, going for dinner, going to sleep then doing it all over again. Unfortunately on our last full day the weather turned bad and in the afternoon all the ski lifts were closed so we spent the afternoon making the most of out hotel facilitates, chilling in the spa until our fancy dinner that night.

Then much to our disappointment the time came when we had to leave, we both could of stayed a few more days as we were having so much fun! As the weather was pretty bad the night before we got up and left a bit earlier incase we got caught up in the snow storms.

We had such lovely break, I am so glad we decided to go here for our New Years Eve and we are already thinking about when we can return again…
