Our Recent DIY Kitchen Make Over

A few weeks ago I discovered ‘cabinet paint’ and instantly decided to get my paint rollers out and give it ago! So this special paint is designed to go on laminated doors and I was soo excited to try it out. Our kitchen is only a few years old so it is absolutely fine, but as its quite a narrow space the dark cabinets and worktops made the space feel even smaller. I have wanted to make it a brighter room for some time now but wasn’t sure how to, without getting a whole new kitchen! Finding this paint was an answer to my kitchen prayers…

It took such a long time to get the kitchen ready to paint, I had to take off every door, then every handle, wash them all with sugar soap, then finally masking tape all the bits I didn’t want paint on! I only painted the doors (both sides) and the cabinet frames, not the inside of them. So after two nights of prepping after work the kitchen was ready to be painted! I was up early Saturday morning (6AM!!!!!) and didn’t finish until 7PM! I also painted the walls and added some Ikea shelves for extra storage and to add a bit more character to the room. Although it took all I day I couldn’t be happier with our new and improved kitchen, here are my before and after photos… its amazing what a pot of paint (or 2) can do!
